Alexander Bogardy


Alexander Bogardy was a true Renaissance man; In the 1920’s a violin student at the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore; in the 1930’s a prize fighter, “The Baltimore Kid”; in the 1940’s he studied Mechanical Engineering at George Washington University; in the 1950’s he studied hairdressing and color at The Clairol Institute. 

He invented and patented a hair curler called “the Bogy Clip” and published a manual called, "The Hair and Its Social Importance" in 1962.  Throughout the 60’s-70’s he created religiously themed paintings and worked as a custodian at several DC hotels, and by the late 1970’s he took up Flamenco dancing and playing the castanets.
