Biography
Ascan Lutteroth

Ascan Lutteroth, landscape painting with Alexandre Calame in Geneva and Oswald Achenbach studied at the Düsseldorf Academy, counted at the end of the 19th century's most important landscape painters of the Hamburg school. The period after his studies, which are considered his best years, he spent from 1868 to 1871 mainly in Italy, so it was found in Lutteroths early work mainly landscape motifs from Italy and France, which are distinguished by the colors more vivid and light contrasts. In this phase, our style paintings also falls. Possibly came Lutteroth 1868 on his way to Capri in Menton over, a small town on the French Riviera, which is situated on the Italian border.
