(1760 - 1830)
Christian Tangermann was active/lived in Germany. Christian Tangermann is known for painting and sculpture.
Christian Tangermann (1760-1830) was a portrait painter and miniaturist in Berlin, St. Petersburg (around 1807-1809) and Vienna (around 1812). He left a great oeuvre of portraits of oil paintings or pastels, including a series of portraits of the family of Frederick William II, King of Prussia as well as Prince Charles of Prussia (1815, Berlin), Prince Albert of Prussia and Frederick William III. The present pastel with the portrait of Frederick William Count von Schlabendorf (1743-1803) was executed in 1794. It is an excellent example of the great talent of the artist, who was able to capture the vibrancy of the presented model in a vibrant color, the spontaneous look to the viewer as well as the soft modeling of the facial features.
