Artist and friend of E. Colburn authors “Grand Style – Who has it?,” ref. in PSCA, No. 8; “Laguna Artist’s Rites Conducted,” SCN, November 5, 1965, page 7. “Funeral services were held Monday at Altadena for Grace Canedy Gilman for many years a resident of Laguna Beach making her home at 503 N. Coast Blvd. She died in Laguna on October 29. Mrs. Gilman, a portrait painter was the widow of British painter Harold Gilman. She formerly had a studio on Fifth Avenue in New York, was a member of the Art Institute of Chicago and had exhibited her paintings in New York and London….Interment was at Mountain View Mortuary, Altadena.”
