A long-time resident of St. Augustine, Florida, Hildegarde Muller-Uri was a portrait and landscape painter in a variety of mediums as well as stained glass artist, etcher, illustrator, craftsperson and art educator. She became particularly noted for her woodblock prints and linoleum cuts of city scenes and historic buildings. Resulting was her book of twenty-two city scenes, St. Augustine in Woodcuts.
She was born in Greenwich Village, New York City. She appears to have inherited some of the artistic talents of family members as her father, Henry Miller Uri was an amateur artist, and her uncle, Adolph Felix Muller-Uri, was a prominent portraitist in Switzerland and America.
