Ignacio Pinazo was a Spanish painter who together with Domingo Marqués and Joaquín Sorolla formed the great trilogy of Valencian painters of the transition from the 19th to the 20th century. As a young man he made several trades to help his family, as a painter of tiles and fans, silversmith and hatter. In 1864 he entered the School of Fine Arts of Valencia and in 1876 he obtained a pension to study in Rome. He won numerous awards in life and worked as a teacher at the School of Fine Arts of San Carlos and the School of Arts and Crafts in Madrid. He cultivated all genres and many of his works are preserved in the Prado Museum and other important collections.
