Jean Abendroth was active in San Diego in the 1930s. Her father, Russell James Kinney, was the first Concertmaster of the symphony and he is credited as founding the San Diego Symphony in 1927.
Jean studied with famed California painter, Charles Reiffel, and participated in his student exhibition in 1935. She painted as hobby until she met her husband, Dr. Arthur Stuart Daley, at Yale in 1942, after which it appears she stopped painting.
Her known works consist exclusively of San Diego scenes from the 1930s.
