Leaving Utah, Timmons moved to Colorado. There, daily interaction with horses, including four of her own, led Timmons to again pick up her pencil. A self-taught artist, Timmons spends hundreds of hours on each of her works, capturing the character and idiosyncrasies of horses and their riders on paper with pencil.
Timmons has participated in many exhibitions and shows, including the Buffalo Bill Art Show and Sale, the Phippen Museum Art Show, and the Coors Western Art Show. She was the co-winner of the 2004 People's Choice Award at the Buffalo Bill Art Show, and won the People's Choice Award four years running (2005-2008) at the Coors Western Art Show, at which she was the featured artist in 2008. She has also taken first place in drawing at the Phippen Museum Art Show. In addition, Timmons' work has been published in magazines such as Southwest Art, Western Horseman and Equine Vision.
