Chen Kezhi (1961-) Born in Jiangjin, Sichuan Province. Graduated from the Oil Painting Department of Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts in 1982. His work 'The History' is the important magnum opus of the Sichuan Scar Painting Group, and has received high praise from such literature ideologists as Wang Haowen. Works for which he is most renown include: 'Yan He Shui', 1981; 'Soul of Yangzi River——Boat Tracker at San Xia', 2000; 'The Huge Explosion in Chongqing from 1938 to 1943', 2004 and 'The First Sun Rays in the Winter Morning', which won the gold medal at 'the 1st China Oil Painting Exhibition' set up by China Art Association. His piece 'Son of the Orient' has been collected by the Olympic Museum of Sweden. Many of his works are now housed in overseas collections, local museums and are in part among the collections housed in other national institutes as well as private collections. In 1993, he was interviewed by the column of CCTV 'Son of the Orient' .
