Louis Antoine Collas was active/lived in New York, South Carolina / France, Russian Federation.  Louis Collas is known for royal portrait, landscape and miniature painting.

Biography
Louis Collas

Louis Antoine Collas was the best of the French portrait artists to take up residence in New Orleans in the 1820s.  Classically trained in Paris where he exhibited at the Salon, Collas painted both portrait miniatures and traditional oil portraits.  His clients in New Orleans were wealthy plantation owners and prominent residents of the city.  Characteristic of Classical French portraiture, Collas depicts his subjects in such a manner which conveys the sitters' rank in New Orleans society at that time.
