Milos Vujasinovic

Biography from the Archives of askART

Born in Belgrade, Serbia, July 22nd, 1971, he spent time in Pennsylvania from 1993 to 2003.  Vujasinovic calls himself an "intutitive artist" in the Expressionist vein.  In 2008, he authored the Manifesto of Intuitive Art which proclaims a return to the tradition of Modern Art through intuition and self-found knowledge.

Between 1995 and 1997 he exhibited in Chestnut Hill, Bryn Mawr/Ardmore and Jenkintown in the United States.

He works and lives in Belgrade and plans a solo exhibition there in 2009.

Artist statement:

I want painting to be the event experienced as poetry; I want surface to radiate or at least to blaze, as I am foremost interested in the shapes of energy and essence of the object that underlie the outer form as the blood is red at night as much as it is red at  day light. (through the gesture, i.e. Dishonoring the Ladylove of Strahinjic Ban, 2008.; or by way of color, i.e. Night in the Garden, 2008., or, Vozdovac, oil on masonite, 2008).  Light in the painting, can come from different sides, from inside as well as from the outside.  Essentially, I don't rely on any earlier knowledge and rules, but exclusively upon my own idea, concept, intuition, and experience.

I am an intuitive artist for it is the only positive thing coming after absolute ignorance.  Due to the coarseness of my drawn sketch, entire work comprises the search for rudimental associative quality forms and improvements of the same according to the idea I had in mind.  Drawing, or the basis, is essential for the existence of my painting, except that it makes a progress as my work goes on.  Next, the work itself and experimentation are highly important as one gains experience which can be applied as own technology and style.

My style can be classified as broadminded and raw expressionism where flaws occur as mishit notes in play which enhances the positive overall impression.  I am painting fast and in a heavy rhythm and if at some point the energy focus is located over the work and colors shine and radiate in a way that I do not longer recognize own energy it is all done.

Some words that best describe or relate to my art are: essence, truth, commotion, visionary, roaming, research, discontent, individual, intuitive, oversensitive, unbalanced, passionate, imagination, the childhood - presence line, controlled decadence.

My favorite themes involve the imagined and general atmosphere of a place or situation involving historical events, epic battles and last stands, UFO and alien themes, unusual energy beings, life fragments in vivid memory, as well as the imagined or actual country and urban corners and intimate places for thinking and pleasure. Nudes and objects, occasionally.

Vozdovac, Belgrade, August-September, 2008
