Natela Iankoshvili


Natela Iankoshvili is the most significant Georgian artist of the 20th century. She studied at the Art Academy in Tbilisi. In 1995 she was awarded the Shota Rustaveli Prize, the highest art award of Georgia. Your exception representational works are characterized by rich, brilliant colors, which puts them in dynamic and broad brushstrokes against black backgrounds. Portraits and powerfully colored landscapes are motifs her artistic focus while stylistically a distant relationship with the art of Alexej von Jawlensky and Marianne von Werefkin well as the works of El Greco, Paul C├ęzanne and Henri Matisse can be established.
