Biography
Otto Eduard van Pippel

In 1896 Otto van Pippel began studying at the Kunstgewerbeschule in Strasbourg to become an interior designer and decorative painter.  After serving in the Russian army for four years, he continued his studies in Karlsruhe and then at the Dresden Academy under Gotthard Kuehl.

Inspired by the French Impressionists, whose works he became acquainted with during a stay in Paris, Pippel decided to devote himself to the impressionist and plein air painting.  In 1912 the painter joined the Munich 'Luitpold-Group' and showed his first work at the Glaspalast in Munich.  From 1915 onwards he regularly participated in exhibitions.

After the war Pippel returned to Planegg, where he created an extensive oeuvre.   ...  Displaying 750 of 1650 characters.
