Born in Elba Township, Gratiot County, Michigan on March 26, 1895, Raymond Addison studied locally at the Mark Hopkins Institute of Art. He was a resident of San Francisco and most active as an artist in the 1920s and 1930s. He began carving cameos on shell in 1917 and by the 1930s he was working for the State of California as a maker of models and miniatures of public works projects.
He died in San Jose, CA on Feb. 5, 1967.
