Biography from Michael Hollis Fine Art
Stephen Mirich has dedicated his life to the study of art. At age ten, he was working in charcoal, watercolors, and oils. He developed an early love for the outdoors and would often go sketching and painting, making direct observatons from nature.

Mirich began to compete and exhibit regularly at the age of fifteen. Although he briefly studied architecture, his primary focus was on a career in fine art, which up to then, had been mostly self taught.

To further his art education, he studied under noted artist Theodore N. Lukits, 1887-1992, at the Lukits Academy of Fine Art in Los Angeles and private studies with Julian Ritter (b. 1919 Hamburg, Germany).

Mirich gained national recognition with his marines and maritime genre paintings. Around 1995, he started focusing on landscape painting en plein air. Mirich paints the landscape that surrounds his home, the graceful hills and welcoming coves of Palos Verdes and scenes inspired from his extensive travels.
