William Schwarz

William Tefft Schwarz was active/lived in Vermont, New York.  William Schwarz is known for figure, portrait, mural painting, illustration.

William Schwarz

Born on July 27, 1887 in Syracuse, New York, Schwarz became a painter, illustrator and teacher, mainly active in Vermont and New York.  He lived in Sandgate, VT (Bennington County).  He was an alternate delegate from Sandgate to the 1948 Republican Convention, and did some painting and illustrating there.  His father was Adolph H. Schwarz who was prominent in Syracuse, his mother was Mary C. Tefft, and he was the grandson of William Tefft, also a prominent citizen of Syracuse, NY. 

He illustrated an article titled The Art Bogy, by Gilbert Seldes, in The Saturday Evening Post, January 12, 1929.  He was assisted by his Daughter Mary Tefft White (1917-2009) in painting murals at the 1939 New York Worl  ...  Displaying 750 of 1112 characters.
