Wolfgang Paalen

Wolfgang Paalen was born in Baden near Vienna, Austria in 1905.  At 16 Paalen studied painting in Berlin with Leo von Koenig, and later continued in Paris with Fernnd L├ęger.  A modernist, his work embraces Surrealism and Abstract Expressionism.  He committed suicide in Taxco, Mexico in 1959.
