Born in Tehran in 1965, Zohreh Khaleghi is a Persian-American artist, poet, art critic, & journalist. She is also the editor of web-based art and poetry Moj Magazine.
She finished her MS in political sciences at Mannheim University, Germany and MA at Loyola University. She contributed to numerous art exhibitions around the world. Zohreh Khaleghi has been painting since childhood and at the same time also writing poetry.
In her paintings she demonstrates the influences of Persian classical paintings, which has also become known as “Persian Miniature.” She has also developed her skill and talent in abstract art as well as artwork for book covers. She is equally comfortable painting & drawing in oil, acrylic, ink, pencil and pastel.
Color is her inspiration in various experiences & experiments--especially in her recent works which are closely related to her poetry. She belongs to the movement known as the “Third Wave” in Persian Poetry and Postmodern Poetry. A collection of her poems including 300 works entitled “Poem-Painting Project” is now ready for print.
She is presently finishing her Ph.D. in Visual Art at the University of New Orleans, Louisiana.
