Born in NYC on July 14, 1886. "Valere" DeMari studied architecture in New York in 1906. Upon moving to California he became a designer in the office of the California State Architect in 1908 and the following year in the office of the San Francisco City Architect. He studied painting in Paris at Académie Ranson under Vallotton (1914-16). After returning to the U.S., he taught architecture at UC Berkeley while maintaining a home in San Francisco until the 1930s. He died in NYC in November 1970.
