(1850 - 1921)
Costelle E. Edgerly (C.E.) O'Donnell was active/lived in Illinois, Massachusetts, Maine. Costelle ODonnell is known for landscape and marine scene watercolors.
The following information is from Nancy Hooker, whose husband is the grandson of the artist, Costelle O'Donnell.
Mary Castella Edgerly was born on March 14, 1850 in Sangerville, Maine. She went to the Midwest to teach, when and what I don't know. She was married in l878 to James Lorenzo O'Donnell, a lawyer in Joliet, Illinois, where she lived for the rest of her life. She had three children: Edith, Francis and Louise. She died on February 25, 1921 in Joliet, Illinois.
A few additional fragments of information: before her marriage she used the name Costelle E. Edgerly. I have a guess that the "E" may have stood for Edith, since it was a family name. I also know that she and her family returned to New England regularly, especially to Gloucester, Massachusetts, in the summer. I have a number of her watercolors from Gloucester.
