Born in Los Angeles, CA on July 27, 1897, the daughter of artist Julius Ulber. Althea first studied with her father and later with Hans Hofmann, A. D. Roziare, Frank Tolles Chamberlin, and Stanton MacDonald-Wright. She taught in the children's department at Chouinard Art School in Los Angeles during 1921-41 and worked on the Federal Art Project. During the 1950s she lived in La Crescenta, CA and later moved to Maui, HI where she remained until her demise on Sept. 26, 1991. Member: Nat'l Society of Mural Painters; Art Teachers Ass'n of So.
