Vern (Verna) Wiman was born in San Francisco, CA on Aug. 20, 1912. Vern Wiman (née Verna Wieman) was cloistered in a convent during her early years. She studied locally at the Schaeffer School of Design and the CSFA under Maurice Sterne (1936). She worked as a caricaturist for the San Francisco Chronicle and was most active in San Francisco during the 1940s. A spinster, Wiman died in her native city on Jan. 13, 1977.
