Gladys G Young
(1887 - 1974)
Gladys G. Young was active/lived in New York, Massachusetts / Switzerland. Gladys Young is known for painting, etching and charcoal drawing.
The following information is from Bob Livermore, great nephew of Gladys Young.
Gladys G. Young was born in 1887 in Colorado Springs and as I understood it was brought up at "Glen Eyrie," which was the estate owned by General William T. Palmer an industrialist and philanthropist as well as somewhat of hero in the Civil War.
She was the youngest daughter of Henry Otis Young, who was a western painter of some fame. She traveled in Europe and was an ambulance driver in France during World War I. She lived when I knew her in New York City and summered in Provincetown, MA on the Cape and I believe she exhibited in both places.
She worked in several media including watercolor, oils on canvas, etchings and charcoal. I have enclosed several examples that are in my possession. Her signature is visible on these works. As far as I know she never married but was a classy woman.
She died in NYC around 1992 but I am not sure of the exact date.
