Joan Marron-LaRue, whose impressionist paintings include landscapes, harbor scenes, and florals, was born in Custer, Oklahoma and grew up in Clinton, Oklahoma. She earned a BA from the University of Oklahoma in Norman: Her work, which also includes murals, reflects her residencies in Oklahoma and Arizona and her wide travels to places such as Russia, Italy, Nepal, and throughout the United States. In California, she has painted with the California Art Club and exhibited plein-air paintings.

Mural installation are in Barth Bracken Ranch, Ft. Gibson, OK; Mercy Health Center, Oklahoma City, OK; Robert S. Kerr Conference Center, Poteau, OK; and State Senate, Oklahoma Capitol, Oklahoma City, OK.

Marron-LaRue has been a teacher of plein-air workshops at Old Lyme, CT; Wickenburg, AZ; Steamboat Springs, CO; and Fallbrook, CA. She has also been a Professor of Art at the University of Oklahoma from 1956 to 1958 and 1970 to 1980.
