Edward Page

Biography from the Archives of askART

A landscape and marine painter of Lynn, Massachusetts, Edward Page was was part of a group called the seven "Lynn Beach Painters." Other members were Charles Greene, Nathaniel Berry, Thomas Clark Oliver, and Charles Woodbury, William Partridge Burpee, and Edward Burrill. Page also taught at the Lynn Evening School of Art, and conducted several painting excursions with Charles Woodbury to Ogunquit, Maine.

Page was born in Groveland, Massachusetts and was a student of George Morse in Boston. Until he was 35 years old, he worked in the local shoe and leather industry and financed his art training with money earned from that endeavor. He shared a studio with Frederick Porter Vinton.
The following is from Anita Balliro:

Two of Edward Pages' beach paintings showing fishermen on Lynn beach with their dories and fishing gear hang in the Swampscott Public Library. Page lived in a boarding house across from the library and painted on the local Swampscott beach. I have done research on the "Beach Painters" and am currently writing a chapter on their place in the history of Swampscott, Massachusetts, a town which adjoins Lynn Beach.
