Born in Newquay, England and raised in Canada, Faiers was loosely associated with a group of Canadian painters called the Indian Space. He studied at the Banff School of Fine Arts at the University of Alberta, and later with Will Barnet at the Art Students League of New York. In 1952, Faiers settled in Memphis, Tennessee to teach as Professor of Painting and Printmaking at what is now the Memphis College of Art. From 1952 he was Chairman of the Department.
