Albert Kenneth Ness (known as Kenneth Ness) was born on June 21, 1903 in St. Ignace, Michigan.  He was known as an artist, teacher, administrator, film maker, and writer.  His father was of Norwegian decent and worked as a printer and bookseller in Cheboygan, Michigan, and his mother was born in Stockholm, Sweden.  He showed an aptitude for drawing at age 10 and later studied art at the University of Detroit 1923-1924 with Fred Nash and Nelson Welsh, at the Detroit School of Applied Art 1924-1926 with Robert A.
