May (Mary) Audubon Post (b. November 21, 1860 in New York City-d. February 8, 1929)

Known for illustration, genre-human activity, human figure/figurative, religion/mysticism, child portrait painting, she studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts with William Merritt Chase, Cecilia Beau, Charles Grafly, Hugh Breckenridge.  Drexel Institute with Howard Pyle; and Lucien Simon in Paris.

Addresses: Philadelphia, PA; Larren and Volendam, Holland, from 1901.

May Post was very active in the late 19th century and the early part of the 20th in Philadelphia.  She had commissions to paint portraits of fellow citizens of Philadelphia and executed illustrations for various publishing companies including the Taber Pra  ...  Displaying 750 of 4160 characters.
