The following biography, submitted August 2004, is from Edith Kurie, niece of the artist:
Ruth Eastman (of the Eastman-Kodak family) was married blissfully to James Lynn Rodgers, a Captain in the Navy. After his retirement from service they spent their lives wintering at their Caribbean-side home in Reading, Jamaica near Montego Bay, and summers in upstate New York. Ruth continued to paint during their retirement more as a hobby and enjoyed her studio on their Jamaican property. She began to lose her eyesight near her death in the mid-1970s. A few years after her husband died she moved to a friend's home in Maryland which is where she died.
