Laurie Elle Justus Pace
Laurie (Elle) Justus Pace is active/lives in Texas, Kentucky, Missouri. Laurie Elle Pace is known for horses, flora, people and children in their home environment.
The following biography was submitted by the artist:
Laurie "Elle" Pace can be found painting in the early hours of the morning in her studio in Justin, Texas. As a painter, an art teacher and a musician, she is aware of the intensity and rhythm directed into a piece of art. Positive energy passes from the artist's soul through working hands into the painting.
Laurie establishes her work with color and contrast, molding into her paintings a dimensional world. As if telling a story, the pieces rapidly develop and merge into harmonious relationships. An enjoyable painting is one that attracts the viewer into this recognized relationship. It may propose thought, memory, or promise. If this is done, then a never-ending journey begins.
Laurie "Elle" Pace was born in St. Louis, Missouri in November of 1952. The only daughter of Gerald and Gladys Justus, Laurie was their middle child between older brother William Justus and younger brother Kirk Justus. The family moved from St Louis when Laurie was four and still today reside in Dallas, Texas. Laurie was a graduate of Lake Highlands High School and Stephen F. Austin State University, where she studied art.
From an early age she drew and painted, encouraged by a creative mother to follow her passion. Teenage years led to runway, television and print modeling. In between was always painting and music as she studied guitar, piano and organ and completed her Bachelors Degree in Fine Arts, majoring in Commercial Art. Nineteen years were spent in the beautiful city of Nacogdoches, the oldest town in Texas. It was here in the piney woods of East Texas she continued her passion and began teaching art and music to the children in the community. Returning to Stephen F. Austin, inspired by a history professor, Dr. Calvin Hines, she began working on her Masters and obtained a teaching certificate to enable her to teach art and history in public schools.
Eight years were spent as head artist of the von Allmen Agency in Nacogdoches, Texas. Laurie's creativity and experience grew in both the art department and in television production.
After the agency, Laurie returned to teaching, encouraging and fostering the arts in the lives of her students, nurturing them to the realization that their talent is a gift from the Lord and their creativity is to honor Him. Several of her students are art teachers today continuing the tradition of passing on the spark to other children to follow their dreams. Laurie has an active working studio today, teaching art, piano and guitar. Annual Juried Art shows celebrate the creativity of the children.
Laurie's best friend and husband, Terry Pace, is the love of her life. Meeting Terry at age eleven, she knew then the future was theirs together. Over forty years later, they are still inseparable and still in love! Their three children are grown and have their own lives and families, but they remain close. Morgan, their youngest son, carries on the tradition of painting and music with the genes of his mother Laurie, his grandmother Gladys and his great grandfather painter William Haskell.
