Alice Ross Hadley (b. 1854, IN - d. 1932, PA) was primarily known for ceramics.  However, Ms. Hadley also painted still lifes, especially flowers.  Ms. Hadley studied at McLean Seminary, John Herron Art Institute and Indiana School of Art - all of Indianapolis .  She also studied in Long Island, NY and Cincinnati.  Some of her instructors included:  Barton S. Hays, T.C. Steele, William Merritt Chase and William Forsyth.  She exhibited mainly in Indianapolis and Chicago.  She won Honorable Mention at the World's Columbian Exposition in 1893.
