Donald David

Donald Raymond David was active/lived in New York, California, Oregon.  Donald David is known for abstract, landscape, townscape, Watercolorist.

Biography  
Donald David


 Born in Springbrook, Oregon on May 2, 1906.  David studied art with Alexandra Bradshaw at Fresno State College and continued in Los Angeles at Chouinard and Art Center schools.  He was a resident of Sacramento in the late 1930s and early 1940s while employed at Weinstock-Lubin Company.  By the mid-1940s he was director of J. W. Robinson Company in Los Angeles.  He painted regionalist watercolors until the 1950s.   After establishing a studio in NYC in 1960, he studied with Hans Hofmann and then painted abstracts into his nineties.  Upon retiring to a farm in Oregon, he died in Newburgh in April 2006.  Exh:  Kingsley Art Club, 1934-43; San Francisco Museum of Art, 1940, 1946; Oakland Art Gal
