“Gladys Castagnola, born in San Francisco and now living in Santa Barbara, started painting in 1953. She studied with Douglass Parshall. She has won awards at Sacramento State Fair, 1954; in Santa Paula 1950; Society of Western Artists, 1960; Pomona State Fair, 1960; and also several smaller prizes in Santa Barbara. She is a member of the Santa Barbara Art Association, Society of Western Artists, Women Painters of the West, and Laguna Beach Art Association.” (from Sept. 1962 Laguna Beach Art Association catalogue.)
