Alessandro Barbieri was born in 1850. He trained at the Brera Academy, the school of G. Bertini.
The artist cultivated mainly genre paintings, both in oil and watercolor. Between 1880 and 1912, he appeared to continuously exhibit in Brera. He also participated in numerous exhibitions of Turin, Genoa, and Venice.
He began initially with internal, city views, and portraits; then with landscapes and especially genre scenes. In 1895 and in 1896, he participated in the Milan Permanent and from 1909-1911, the exhibitions of the Artistic Family.
