Richard Geiger, a Hungarian painter, draftsman and graphic artist, attended the drawing school and then the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna.  He later studied at the Académie Julian in Paris.  By 1896 he had settled in Budapest.

He initially worked as a draftsman for a Hungarian weekly magazine.  In the 1920s, he illustrated numerous books, created bookplates and posters.  He also painted portraits, nudes as well as genre paintings and mythological scenes.  He became known primarily through his carnival motifs.

At the Berlin Academy of Arts, he studied sculpture under Fritz Klimsch and participated in the Academy exhibitions with his portrait busts and sculptures. (tfa)
