Hans Herrmann was born in Berlin, Germany, in 1858. Hans began his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts under Otto Knille (historical painter) and Karl Gussow (inventor of Gussow brush), before continuing at the Düsseldorf School of Painting under Eugen Dücker.
Hans Herrmann was a member of the Berlin Academy and the group 'Elf,' together with Max Liebermann and Walter Leistikov. This group later became known as the Berlin Secession.
Since 1879, Hans Herrmann's works were regularly exhibited at the Berlin Academy, the Munich Glass Palace, as well as in Dusseldorf, Dresden, Vienna, Brussels, Chicago, and Melbourne. Hans works can be found in numerous German collections. (vwe)
