made his first journeys to Holland and Denmark. He returned to Berlin in
1885. He became a member of the Academy in Berlin in 1896.
Jacob Alberts, Ludwig von Hofmann, Walter Leistikow, Max Liebermann et
al. he founded the progressive group Elf (resignation 1898). He was a
member of the Munich Secession.
