Mušic was born in the Austro-Hungarian town of Bukovica near Gorizia,
Italy. He and his family were forced to flee multiple times due to war,
occupation, and border changes. From 1930 to 1935, he attended the
Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb and traveled extensively afterward until
he was sent to the Nazi Dachau concentration camp in 1943.
