Émile Louis Picault was a remarkable French sculptor and medalist.  Picault studied at Fine Arts Academy in Paris.  He was a pupil of V. Royer.  He came out on Paris Salon in 1863 and he was going on with exhibitions until 1909 constantly.  His art was connected to mythological characters. 

He was an author of many monuments and architectural details, especially in Paris.  His works occur in numerous museums of Paris, Clermont-Ferrand, Toulouse, Chambery, New York and Bruxelles; also in private collections, especially in USA.

His oeuvre is characterized by allegorical or patriotic themes and figures of warriors and mythological heroes. In addition, he has also created busts of historical or literary figures, such as Joan of Arc, Voltaire or even Macbeth. Picault is considered one of the most prolific French sculptors of his time.
