first studied in Oslo with the Norwegian female artist Harriet Backer,
Then he attended for a short period the Anton Ažbe School in Munich and
studied then in Paris at the Académie Colarossi. 1919-1920 he was again
in Paris and studied with André Lhothe. Inspired by the numerous
movements in modern art, Thygesen changed his style from impressionist
landscapes to harmonic and more decorative compositions. Thus he
executed several frescoes and wall decorations.
