Coyle Christy Tincher (1888-1933) was born in Greensburg Indiana. Tincher graduated from the University of Minnesota and during World War I served as an officer in the United States Navy. He worked for a number of years as an illustrator for the Minneapolis Tribune
He also created the artwork for the covers of paperback editions of American novels such as Edna Ferber's Show Boat
