Werner Tübke began his artistic education at the Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst in Leipzig, where he later became a professor and headmaster. His main work is the ‚Frankenhauser Bauernkriegspanorama’ [Peasants’ War Panorama in Bad Frankenhausen], a round painting of 120 m perimeter, which depicts around 3000 figures. He also created a huge stage picture for Weber’s ‘Der Freischütz’ at the Staatsoper Bonn. In addition, he painted numerous landscapes in watercolors. Tübke left behind a comprehensive body of drawings and graphic works. In 2006 was founded the ‘Tübke Stiftung Leipzig’.
