Giulio Cesare Procaccini
(1574 - 1625)
Giulio Cesare Procaccini was active/lived in Italy. Giulio Procaccini is known for portrait, figure paintings, religious, allegorical.
Giulio Cesare Procaccini was born around 1574 in Bologna. He is the son of Ercole the Elder and brother of the painters Camillo and Carlantonio. Giulio Cesare began as a sculptor, starting with painting around 1600.
He remained untouched by the influences of Caravaggio at that time, instead, he was influenced by the sleek, Mannerist proportions of Parmigianino, coupled with stylistic influences from Cerano, Bedoh and his brother Camillo. While studying in Parma he received decisive impressions by Correggio, which he adapts in his work and eventually formed his own mannerist style combined with baroque effects.
