Christine McArthur was born in Kirkintilloch near Glasgow in 1953 and trained at
the Glasgow School of Art from 1971 to 1976. In 1990 she was elected a
member of the Royal Glasgow Institute and in 1995 a member of the Royal
Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolour.
McArthur has remarked that she loves painting flowers and for her 'there
is no better way to bring color, great patterns and a hundred
surprises into a painting'. McArthur has been the recipient of a number
of awards including The Scottish Arts Council Award and the Glasgow
Society of Women Artist Trust Fund Award. She has exhibited widely in
the UK, particularly in London and Scotland, as well as in Russia, Hong
Kong, South Africa and the USA.
Her work is represented in a number of
public and private collections including the Lillie Art Gallery, Gertsev
Gallery and John Lewis Partnership plc.
