A Finnish painter and teachier, Urpo Wainio, also known as Jerk Olavi Wainio, studied at the Finnish Art Society Drawing School in 1934 to 1937, and in 1949, studied in Paris with Andre Lhote. 

Wainio's specialty was glass painting, and some of his paintings are in churches in Pielaveden and Kokkola.  He also taught at the School of Industrial Art in 1952.
