Biography
Marco da Faenza

Marco Marchetti used to be called Marco da Faenza because he came from this city.  In 1567 he painted an ‘Adoration by the Shepherds’ as a commission for the church of the confraternity of Santa Maria dell'Angelo (now in the Pinacoteca of Faenza).  Accompanied by Giorgio Vasari, Marchetti also painted a series of frescoes in the Palazzo Vecchio which show the Life of Hercules.   Another of his most celebrated work is the altarpiece which he painted in 1580 representing the Martyrdom of St. Catherine of Alexandria, in the church of San Antonio in Faenza.
