Biography from Morton Casa de Subastas
He began his training with private masters of painting and ceramics, and later studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Since 1962 he has made more than 80 individual exhibitions in Mexico and abroad.
Beatriz Zamora is more than fifty years old, eighty years old, strong, powerful and free; she is daughter of the universe. She has been the only Mexican artist capable of creating countless works of art with one color: black. Black is silence, it is creation and the absolute. His works revolt at the pre-established canons and speak for themselves, fierce, passionate, even primitive.
Its materials, fruits of nature, arise from the depth of the earth to serve as a portal to the infinite: charcoal, cilice carbide, acerina, carbon black, obsidian are some of the elements used to create these portals to the contemplation.
"In the works of Beatriz, the size does not seem important, there are tiny pieces that are fascinating universes and with a great poetic content, as rich as the large format, each piece is like a fragment of the night." Eduardo Rubio.
