Born in Van, Armenia in 1878.  Horen was the brother of artist Haig Patigian.  The brothers settled in Fresno, CA in 1891 and established a sign painting business.  Horen had studied at the Mark Hopkins Art Institute and was a sucessful magazine illustrator at the time of his death in 1902.
