He was born in Naples, Italy. In 1968, he came to the United States with his family and grew up in Patterson, New Jersey. From the School of Visual Arts, he earned a B.F.A. Degree.
For his portraits, he works from photographs and from several sittings. He also has a second career as a successful actor, and he and his paintings were in a film, "Eighteen Shades of Dust," starring Danny Aiello and William Forsythe.
