Kathryn Metts was a resident of Georgetown, SC who grew up in Burlington, NC and came to be a well-known artist of the South Carolina Low Country. She passed away in 2006 at the age of fifty nine from cancer.
Metts' paintings, usually rendered in pastel and watercolor, are always distinguishable by their whimsical nature, loose, moving brushstrokes, and vivid color. A graduate of UNC Greensboro, where she earned a degree in art, Metts was largely self taught. She was devoted to promoting the Arts in Georgetown and the Waccamaw Neck; often donating her time and her art to further promote the Arts among the community.
Her paintings had become widely collected before her untimely death.
