Herbert "Herb" Eaton was born on 22 May 1949 in Peoria, Illinois, a son of James and Florence Eaton. Herb is a sculptor, woodworker, illustrator, and painter. He received a BS in Art and an MFA in Sculpture and Drawing from Illinois State University and is a member of the Around The Corner Art Group* in Bloomington, IL. Eaton studied under Ron Jackson, Harold Gregor and Harold Boyd.

He has participated in numerous group and solo exhibitions in Central Illinois and Chicago.
His work, including commissions, is in the collections of the Chugai-Upjohn Corporation (Chicago, Il), The State of Illinois Collection, the Illinois State University Collection, OSF St. Joseph Medical Center (Bloomington, IL), Bromenn Medical Center (Normal, IL) and Advanced MRI (Bloomington, IL).
Eaton was commissioned to do a series of ten book covers for Dalkey Press.
